Life of a Avon rep, let's try canvassing
I thought I would have a go at canvassing Avon leaflets to see if I could get anymore customers this way.
Anyway we printed off the latest campaign flyers from the Avons rep website, they looked good and I had printed my details on them so hopefully potential customers would get in contact with me or at least visit my online store, the only thing I was worried about was the size of them, they are A5 size and made me nervous if people would noticed them or even be able to read the small print, but thought I would try anyway.
I have 160 houses in my territory which probably doesn't sound alot but believe me it is when your walking around them!
I decided to canvass instead of buying loads of brochures because as you have to buy the brochures and I'm starting out, buying 160 brochures plus about another 20/30 brochures for friends and family is not in my budget at the moment.
Someone on one the Avon groups on Facebook suggested to me to only buy 20 to 30 brochures and deliver and then collect every 3 to 4 days over a campaign and then deliver and collect again until I had done all my houses, which I think it's a great idea and would definitely save me money, but would be hard for me as I'm so limited on time and would prefer to deliver the whole lot over a few days if possible and then pick them up the next week, which ideally would mean I would have to buy a hell of alot of brochures.
So because of this I thought maybe if I canvass people might be interested in my Avon instead that way and get in contact with me.
So off I trotted, littlest child in the buggy, wrapped up warm and lots of snacks at the really just incase she got hungry, and eldest child at nursery, with my wod of flyers of I set.
Now I used to be quite fit before I had kids but soon realised I definitely need to be fitter, especially as most of the houses had very long driveways, I think if you wanted to lose weight or get fit, Avon would definitely help, maybe they should turn it into the next fitness craze.
I trotted up and down the houses pushing my young child in her buggy, by this time she had fallen asleep.
I avoided one house as it looked a real state from the outside and you could see piles of catalogues piled up at the windows and it looked like one of those houses from that hoarders programme on TV, I feel a bit snobby saying this but just presumed my leaflet would get lost in the thousands of other things in there, also there was a really rusty old car in the driveway and it really put me off, maybe as a Avon rep I shouldn't think like this, maybe every house is a potential customer!
I also nearly got my hand bitten off at another house as there was a savage dog living there, that sounded like it ripped my Avon leaflets to shreds, I wouldn't go back there again.
I came home exhausted but happy that hopefully this was a step closer to getting more customers.
Crossed fingers for me.
